The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

Although not read as an eBook, I feel so strongly about this book that I feel compelled to write a review about it.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

I received this book at a Christmas party book swap. Another person wanted the book I had (Horse Soldiers)  and I took the high road and swapped with them even though I REALLY wanted the other one. I got the better deal by far!

This book is well written and tugged at my emotions; sometimes anger at the way our society treats people, sometimes sadness for Henrietta’s family, always awe at just what this family has been through and how they have been (and continue to be) treated. I was left feeling indebted to Henrietta, even though I will never meet her of her family.

I highly recommend this book and believe every person on the planet should read it and thank the Lacks family for the contributions Henrietta Lacks has had on our health.
